Things to do well ahead of your move ……
- Confirmed the removal date.
- Sort your belongings, discard or donate any unwanted items .
- Provide valued inventory to 'Freight International' so that your shipment can be insured. Value should be shown against each item to be insured with the total amount.
- Checked on resident permits, import permits, work permits etc
- Checked passports are valid.
- Discussed with your bank any need to transfer bank accounts and funds to your city of destination
- Notified schools and obtained copies of transcripts or reports
- Transferred or sold memberships in sports facilities or given notice
- Made arrangements for the sale or shipment of your car, in line with the Customs regulations of your new country
- Obtained medical certificates and records.
- Ensure all accomodation and travel arrangments are booked and confirmed.
Leading up to your move……
- Empty, defrost nd thoroughly towel dry your fridge and freezer. Quickly wipe over the inside using vanilla essence, this will assist in the prevention of odours.
- Ensure fuel is drained from fuel driven applainces such as lawn mowers or any other garden appliances.
- Collect any drycleaning or laundry.
- Remove batteries from clocks, games, cameras and remote controls.
- Return any items brought from the libraries such as books and videos.
- Backup your computer hard disk. Ensure printer, scanner etc is prepared for transport. Seek manufactures advice, if you are unsure.
- Make sure any gas cylinders have been emptied and return back to the supplier/client.
- Carry important documents, curency and jewellery yourself.
- If packing is done by yourself ( PBO ) ensure all cartons are packed, sealed and clearly labled ready for collection.
On the move day ……
- Please arrange to be at your home on both packing and uplift days. If you cannot attend, please have someone you trust to attend and act as your represntative.
- Walk through your home with the crew leader to give him an overview of what is to be done, while he is taking an inventory of your possessions.
- REMEMBER !! to keep keys, passports etc to one side to your own possessions.
- Advise the crew of any iems which you will require immediately at detaintion so that they can load them last ( if appropriate ).
- Call our Office ( +971 4 33 87 868 ), should you have any questions during the packing which the crew leader cannot answer.
- Once the packing is completed and our crew is ready to depart, walk through your home to ensure that nothing is been missed out.
- Make sure, you have the contact telephone number and address of your moving company at destination. Kindly hand over the copy of your passport main page and UAE resident visa page, valued inventory, insurance papers, if any, and duly filled up customs documents of the destination country.
Ensure that you retain your own copy of packing inventory after checking and signing.
